Route 1 Crowborough to Rye Harbour Cafe for Breakfast

"Leave Crowborough on the B2100 heading towards Wadhurst. Follow the signs to Ticehurst B2099, pick up the A21 for about 1/2 mile then hang a left towards Merriments Garden Centre. Take the first right, then right again at the T-junction on to the B2244 – a big 5 mile straight – go easy! Watch out for the cross-roads by The Curlew pub. When you come into Cripps Corner turn left off the B2244, and then 50m further on turn right onto B2089 signposted towards Broad Oak and Udimore. This is the best part of the ride. Head straight over the cross roads at Broad Oak towards Udimore and Rye. When you come into Rye follow the one-way system round and follow the signs for Rye Harbour. Opposite the Lifeboat Station in Rye harbour you can enjoy a nice cup of tea in the café. Then follow the directions in reverse on the way back, the roads are just as good heading back!"

Route 2 A272 Enough Said!
Winchester – Petersfield – Billingshurst – Haywards Heath – Uckfield

"There’re SO many A272 rides I thought I would just list the whole road – it’s good from start to finish! A couple of tips: 1. Go easy through the towns and built-up areas. 2. It is a country road and can get slippy under the trees. 3. Watch out for less experienced riders on this route as the weekends often see loads of bikers. 4. Enjoy. If you want to make a round trip you can always head to the coast from Uckfield and take the coast road back – that will be a good day’s ride."

Route 3 Tender Tenterden:
Tenterden - Hastings - Tenterden

"Perfect summer's morning ride. Leaving Tenterden on the B2082 heading south towards Rye this is a quick, twisty little number that demands your utmost attention – watch out for the blind spots from the high hedges that envelope the road. Rye's always good value with bikers, loads hang out by the roundabout on the quayside and it's always good for a stop and stretch. During the summer months there's normally something going on. Leaving Rye heading west on the A259, another good fast road, gets you into Hastings just in time for a spot of lunch on the sea front. Pick up the A21, head north to Baldslow. In Baldslow, jump onto the A28, head through Newenden and this takes you back to Tenterden."

Route 4 Cadwell Cruise!
Rotherham - Louth

"If you’re heading to Cadwell Park you’ve got to try this! Leaving Rotherham, head for Gainsborough on the A631, nice road with a few straights. The next section from Gainsborough to Caenby Corner is still on the A631. The "Gainsborough tops" offer some really nice throttle opportunities into some ace knee-abusing twisties. On the way to Ludford stay on the A631, this is the best section, many fast sections and bum-wrenching curves. Willingham woods are a great stop off point and there’s a nice picnic area. Loads of bikers stop-off here at the weekend, especially race weekends. From Ludford continue along the A631 to Louth. This is a nice fast section which should get you to Cadwell Park on time. If you’re going for a track day, enjoy it - take your aggression and skills out on the track and not on the way home!"

Route 5 The Thirsk to Thirsk Loop

"Leave Thirsk on A168 to Northallerton. Go straight through Northallerton high street, over the level crossing and turn left at the mini roundabout onto the B6271. Enjoy the sweeping bends as you pass through Yafforth, Great Langton and Ellerton on way to Richmond. Go through Richmond on the A6108 towards Leyburn. Some sharp bends here, but good scenery again. Go through Leyburn and stay on the A6108 through Middleham, East Witton, Masham and into Ripon. Exercise some caution on this Leyburn/Ripon stretch as some manholes are covered in loose gravel. Upon reaching Ripon, turn left on A61 to Thirsk for a quick ride home."

Route 6 Evesham Roundabout

"Great roads, big ponds and a lovely little café. Leaving Evesham head south east on the A46 then the A435 to Bishop’s Cleeve, watch out for the high hedge rows that give you little time to judge the road ahead. Then it’s onto Cheltenham, follow the A40 to Andoversford a series of nice corners with the reservoir on your left. In Andoversford pick up the A436 signposted for Bourton-on-the-Water. Bourton is home to a Motor Museum if you fancy stretching your legs and having a look at some old stuff. Back on the road head for Stow-on-the-Wold, there are a number of great pubs for something to eat. Continue on the A429 then the A44, through ‘Fish Hill’, the highest point in the region, with loads or great corners and the occasional speed camera."

Route 7 Cambridge to Ipswich Dash and Back

"Leave Cambridge via Fulbourn, over the obligatory sprint up past the Gogs and head towards Haverhill down the A1307. Follow the road to Clare and then Sudbury. Nice road when out of the towns. Once out of Sudbury, head towards Colchester and take the left turn towards Hadleigh down the A1071 - this road is a corker - fast corners, slow corners, long corners, straights. Follow that to Ipswich and head back to Cambridge! Also some lovely scenery, so the missus tells me!"

Route 8 Prince of the Mountains

"Starting at Newport head out on the A487 to Eglwyswrw, which is completely unpronounceable to anyone who isn’t Welsh (so don’t get lost), before taking the B4332 until it meets the A478. Turning right, signed Tenby, head along the side of the spectacular Mynydd Preseli national park (Mountain Preseli to non-Welsh speakers). This road isn’t that exciting but makes up for it with the views of the park. Turning right again at the roundabout onto the A40 and head into Haverfordwest. After Haverfordwest is the best part of the ride, the A487. It’s a beautiful twisty road with spectacular sea views and St Davids is a lovely town with a cathedral. After looking around St Davids take the A487 again towards Fishguard, but stop off in Porthgain to visit the Sloop Inn, which serves excellent food. Provided you can drag yourself away from this fantastic pub, the final part of the route is simply a case of following the A487 back to Newport. Take a few hours and enjoy the ride."

Route 9 Simply Stonehenge:
Devizes – Stonehenge

"A great road with lots of tight corners, some seriously fast straights, and one of the best corners I’ve ever done, near the end of the route. Take the A360 heading south from Devizes signposted Salisbury. Stop at Stonehenge for a breather! The route is only about 20 miles so is brilliant for a little fresh air before breakfast – or you could continue down the A360 for breakfast and mug of tea in Salisbury before heading back."

Route 10 Exeter to Exeter B4 Lunch

"Lovely road! The A377 is 50-odd miles of twisty heaven, though its surface is starting to go in places. Narrow-ish road follows the river with speed limits starting to pop up along the road. Coming into Barnstaple take the A361, which is a little dull, to Bideford – through the town. Then join the A386 to Torrington, watching for some nasty corners, onto the B3220 through Beaford/Winkleigh - nice fast roads - and back onto the A377 about 15 miles before Exeter. Good route for a sunny Sunday ride. Good weather normally brings a fair few bikers along the A377. Note: Summer brings loads of tourists down here, driving along at 20mph with their caravans. Hope you enjoy it."

NEW ROUTE: Route 11 A4 Chippenham - Newbury - Chippenham

Biker route

stops Malborough, or some of the many nice pubs along the route.

"Wide sweeping road with a reasonable (low to moderate) amount of traffic. Ideal for speed as there are some nice undulating and sweeping areas outside the market towns along its route. Newbury has some bike friendly pubs and smart public areas. Lovely ride especially on a sunny day. Chippenham also has a couple of bike friendly pubs on the route. about 80 odd miles round trip."
