How to log into your account


This guide shows you how to log into the My Account area, which is available to Car and Home Insurance customers:

Please note: If you previously had access to a MySwinton account, you won’t be able to access the My Account area with those log-in details. You will need register again. Read our guide about How to Register

1. Head to the Account Log In page.

2. Enter the Username and Password that you chose when the account was registered. You may have done this when you bought your policy online or at a later date.

3. Click the Log in button.

4. If all your details are correct you will be taken to your Overview page which lists all the policies you have with us.

How to register your account

This guide explains how to register for the My Account area for Car and Home Insurance customers.

1. Go to the My Account registration screen

2. You'll need to complete all of the fields on the registration form

3. Username - choose a username that you'll be able to remember as you will need this each time you log in.

4. Password - enter your password and confirm it in the second box. For security you'll need to include an uppercase and lowercase letter, a number and a symbol in your password.

5. Email - You'll need to enter your email address to complete registration as we send an email once you’ve submitted your registration to validate your request.

6. In the Policy Details section enter the Postcode related to your policy and the Date of birth for the policyholder.

7. Your Policy number can be found on the letter or email that you will have received from us when you bought the policy. Please take care to enter this exactly as it appears on your document.

8. In the Security Details section choose two of the available questions and enter the answers. If you forget your password in the future, we’ll use the answers to these questions to confirm your identity.

9. Once all the fields have been completed click the 'Create Account' button

10. If everything is correct you'll be taken to a thank you page and an email will be sent to your email address

11. To complete your registration you'll need to click the link in the email we have sent you. It’s advised that you do this as soon as possible, as the link will expire within 14 days and you'll have to start your registration again.


What to do if you have forgotten your username


This guide explains what you need to do if you have forgotten the Username to your Car or Home Insurance account area.


1. From the Account Log In page click the Forgotten Username button

2. You'll be taken to the Forgotten Username page

3. Enter the Postcode associated to your policy

4. Enter the Date of birth for the policyholder

5. Enter the Surname related to the account

6. Enter the Email address you gave us when you registered the policy

7. If you don't use your email address, click the 'I can't remember my email address' link and you will be given the option of providing one of the following: Client Reference, Web Reference or Policy Number - which you should have on the letter or email we sent you when you bought your policy.

8. Once you have completed all of your details click the Retrieve Username button.

9. Check your email account as you'll be sent details of the Username related to your account.

10. You should now be able to log in as normal with this Username and your account password – see How to log into your account

What to do if you have forgotten your password


This guide explains what to do if you have forgotten your password for your account area for Car and Home Insurance customers


1. Navigate to the Account Log In page and click the Forgotten Password button

2. You'll be taken to the Forgotten Password page

3. Enter the Username related to your account

4. Enter the Postcode related to your policy

5. Click the Next button

6. You'll then be asked to provide the answers to the security questions you selected when you registered your account

7. Once these have been completed, click the Reset Password button. If you cannot remember the answers you supplied, please give us a call on 0800 298 6808.

8. We'll then send you an email that contains a link to reset your password. You’ll need to click on this as soon as you get the email as it is only valid for one hour.

9. When you click the link you'll be taken to a page where you can select a new password

10. Select a new password and confirm it in the second box. For security you'll need to include an uppercase and lowercase letter, a number and a symbol in your password.

11. Click the Change Password button

 

Frequently Asked Questions


I can't register for my online account, it's telling me that I'm already registered. What should I do?

If you haven’t registered for an account then check the information that you have entered. Check that you are entering the correct details in the "Policy number" field as this is the most common reason for the error message.


Where do I send my No Claims Discount confirmation to?

You can either upload it into your online account, email it to documents@swinton.co.uk, post it to Central Administration Team (NCB), Swinton Group, 101 Embankment, West Tower, Cathedral Approach, Salford, M3 7FB or drop it into your nearest branch.


How do I upload a document to my online account?

On the Your Account page you'll find a complete list of your polices displayed. Find the policy that your document relates to and click the 'Upload Documents' button. You'll be taken to Upload Documents page where you can select the document you need to upload by clicking 'Add Files...'. You can upload most common image image files (JPEG, JPG, JPE, GIF and PNG) and PDF documents, as long as these do not exceed 5MB in size.

Once you have selected your document you will be shown a preview of the document and you will need to select a Description which closest matches the document you are uploading. You can also add further information if required in the Comments box. If  you need add more documents you can click 'Add More Files...' to repeat the process.

If you make a mistake or upload the wrong file, you can click 'Remove' on right-hand side of each document or 'Remove All' above to remove all the documents you have selected.

Once you are happy with the documents you have selected click the 'Start Upload' button to complete the upload. A confirmation message will be shown once the upload process has finished.


How do I see which documents I've uploaded to my online account?

Your online account doesn't show which documents you've uploaded but when you successfully upload a document it briefly displays the message "This file has been successfully uploaded".


Where can I find my CCA document?

The Consumer Credit Agreement can be found on page seven of the document pack in your online documents.


How do I return my signed CCA document?

You can either upload it into your online account, email it to documents@swinton.co.uk, post it to Iron Mountain, Omega House, Stone, ST15 0SR or drop it into your nearest branch.

I'd like to change my address, how do I do this?

You can make some amendments to your policy at any time using your online account and no service charge is applied. You'll see a quote for any increase or decrease in your premium as a result of your change of address or any other amendments before you decide to proceed.

To make amendments to your Car Insurance policy online, login to your online account and click the "Manage Policy" button for the policy that you want to apply the address change to. You'll be taken to a policy view page, in the "Your Details" section click on "Amend Your Details". Once you have selected the date you want the change to take effect and clicked "Confirm", you can find the current address details by clicking "Amend Your Contact Details".

When you have updated your address, quickly check the rest of the information on the page to ensure it is still correct as a result of the change. Once you are happy with your changes click 'Get Quote'. There may be a change to your premium as a result of doing this, but accepting the new quote will make the amendments to your address and postcode and your documents will be updated online.

To make amendments to your Home Insurance policy online, login to your online account and click the "Manage Policy" button for the policy that you want to apply the address change to. You'll be taken to a policy view page, in the "Your Details" section click on "Replace Current Property". You will have to update the building information and security features and then click "Get Quote". 

There may be a change to your premium as a result of doing this, but accepting the new quote will make the amendments to your address and postcode and your documents will be updated online.

If you pay by Direct Debit and would like to spread an additional payment onto your monthly amount you will need to call us once you have been given your revised price. We can then add this to your Direct Debit and you will not incur a service charge.


I have Swinton Car and Home Insurance but can only see one of my policies when I log into my online account?

You'll need to register a different online account for each policy that you take out.


I've changed my car, what do I need to do?

To make amendments to your policy online, login to your online account then under "Your account" click on "Manage Policy". Scroll down to the Car section and click "Change Car Details". Complete the details for your new car and once you are happy with your changes click 'Get Quote'. There may be a change to your premium as a result of doing this, but accepting the new quote will make the amendments to your address and postcode and your documents will be updated online.

If you pay by Direct Debit and would like to spread an additional payment onto your monthly amount you will need to call us once you have been given your revised price. We can then add this to your Direct Debit and you will not incur a service charge.


I need to add a driver to my policy, how do I do this?

You can make some amendments to your policy at any time using your online account and no service charge is applied. You'll see a quote for any increase or decrease in your premium before you decide to proceed.

To make amendments to your policy online, login to your online account then under "Your account" click on "Manage Policy". Scroll down to the "Drivers" section and click "Add Another Driver". Complete the details for the additional driver and click 'Confirm Driver's Details'. Review the list of additional drivers and update the main user of the car if required. Once you are happy with the changes click "Get Quote". 

There may be a change to your premium as a result of doing this, but accepting the new quote will make the amendments to your address and postcode and your documents will be updated online.

If you pay by Direct Debit and would like to spread an additional payment onto your monthly amount you will need to call us once you have been given your revised price. We can then add this to your Direct Debit and you will not incur a service charge.
