Our Swinton story began in 1957, when Ken Scowcroft sold his first car insurance policy, for just five pounds. Back then you bought your motor insurance from the ‘man’ at your door, but Ken had a better idea.
By comparing prices from lots of insurance companies, Ken could retain the personal touch and pass on the savings to his customers. In his first year, he sold over 100 policies and Swinton Insurance was born.
By 1964, he’d opened his first high street branch and by 1987, Swinton was a household name, with 220 branches nationwide.
