Breaking down can be a nightmare for most drivers, especially if you're on a long journey. From the battery going flat to steam pouring out of the engine, having Inter Partner Assistance S.A. UK Branch breakdown cover will give you peace of mind that someone will be there to assist you should your vehicle break down.

Inter Partner Assistance S.A. UK Branch aim to fix your vehicle at the roadside to keep you on the go and, with an average response time of 50 minutes and four out of five vehicles repaired at the roadside you shouldn't be waiting around long.

What levels of Van Breakdown Cover are available?

Roadside assistance - £59.95

24/7, 365 days a year assistance for breakdowns over a quarter of a mile from the registered address. Up to one hour of free labour at the roadside. If your vehicle cannot be repaired at the roadside, you will be towed to a suitable local garage within a 20-mile radius and transport will be provided for up to seven people, including the driver, to that destination.

UK cover should your vehicle break down as a result of misfuelling. Under the policy terms your vehicle must be regularly serviced and maintained. Call-outs for the same fault will not be covered unless the vehicle has been fully repaired or declared fit by a breakdown agent. This policy covers any breakdown in this vehicle regardless of who is driving.

Roadside assistance and recovery - £69.99

This cover includes all features offered in Roadside Assistance, plus if the vehicle cannot be repaired on the same day by a local repairer, the breakdown engineer will choose the most convenient choice from one of the following options:

• Nationwide recovery for the vehicle and up to eight people (including the driver) to either your original destination or your home address
• 24-hour hire vehicle if repairs can be completed the following day
• Hotel accommodation for one night up to £500
• Pay up to £250 to continue your journey via public transport

Roadside assistance and Homestart - £79.95

This cover includes all features offered in Roadside Assistance and Recovery, plus;

• Patrol Assistance will come out to your home address (e.g. if your vehicle breaks down on the drive or within a quarter of a mile of your home address).
• If your vehicle breakdowns at your home, Inter Partner Assistance S.A. UK Branch will attempt to repair your vehicle for up to one hour. If within the hour the vehicle cannot be fixed, your vehicle will be towed to the nearest garage within a 20-mile radius.

European breakdown cover - £106.95

This cover includes all features offered in Roadside Assistance, plus you will be covered should your vehicle break down anywhere in UK, including your home and Europe. If your vehicle was to break down whilst in Europe, providing your trip does not exceed 90 days they will attempt to fix your vehicle at the roadside.

If this is not possible, they will tow your vehicle to the nearest garage. If the vehicle repairs are going to take longer than eight hours, your insurer will arrange and pay for the most appropriate solution from one of the following options:

• To move you, your passengers and luggage to where you were originally travelling to, and then, once your vehicle has been repaired, take you back to your vehicle
• Bring your vehicle to you or pay for the cost of hiring another car up to £750, as long as you are able to meet the conditions of the hire-car company while your vehicle is being repaired
• Bed and breakfast costs of up to £125 per person each day (£750 in total for everyone in your group) while your vehicle is being repaired, as long as you have already paid for your original accommodation and you can't get your money back
• After a breakdown, if your vehicle is still not repaired or safe to drive when it is time for you to go home, your cover will pay for suitable transport to get you, your passengers, and your luggage to your home
• Your cover will also pay up to £150 towards other travel costs in the UK while you wait for your own vehicle

Your insurer will then choose the most appropriate solution from the following options:

Take your vehicle to your home or your chosen repairer in the UK or pay the cost of one rail or sea ticket (or an air ticket if the rail or sea trip would take more than 12 hours) for you to go to get your vehicle once it has been repaired.

What to do if your van breaks down

• Keep some essential items in your van, such as a torch, blanket, and a first aid kit
• If you do break down, make sure other drivers can see you by pulling over to a safe place and putting your hazard lights on
