What is Only Smart Drivers?
If you’re confident in your driving ability, Only Smart Drivers is a new way to save money on your car insurance.
We know from years of experience that it’s your attitude behind the wheel that makes you a safer driver –- not just the car you drive or where you live.
That’s why we use telematics technology (also known as a ‘black box’) to reward you for driving safely. Using your driving data we will calculate a discount on the amount you pay each month. If you’re sensible on the roads, you could be rewarded with a discount on your car insurance premiums!

How it works in three simple steps
Receive and easily install your telematics device on the agreed delivery date
Drive your vehicle as usual while your black box records your journeys
We’ll review your driving score each quarter and reward you with cheaper premiums if you drive well. If your score goes lower, we may charge you a higher premium. If your score gets too low and shows no sign of improvement we will cancel your policy.

What do I do if I want to make a change to my policy?
If you want to make any changes to your policy, no matter how insignificant they may seem, contact us immediately on 0330 343 8871. Please note that we’ll charge you an administration fee of £37.50 for processing changes to policies. Please check your policy booklet to find out more.
What do I do if my documents arrive and they are wrong?
It’s essential to check your policy documents as soon as they arrive. If any details are incorrect, you must contact us immediately. We’ll make any necessary changes and make sure we get the corrected documents back to you as soon as possible.
What do I do in the event of a claim?
If you need to report a claim, or you need assistance in the event of an accident, simply call our Claims Helpline on 0330 343 8871. We’ll provide any immediate assistance you may need and then guide you through the claims process.
When do I need to renew my insurance policy?
Don’t worry: we’ll remind you when it’s time to renew. As part of auto-renewal, we’ll send you your renewal documentation at least 21 days before your renewal date, explaining each step you need to complete in order to carry on being insured by Only Smart Drivers.
Will I be charged for cancelling my policy?
You have the right to cancel your policy at any time, subject to fees. We will charge you an administration fee of £79.95 to cover administration costs, in addition to any charges your chosen insurer may apply. In most cases, you will not receive a refund for your telematics device. Please see your policy booklet for details.
How do you work out the cost of my first year’s insurance?
Based on the vehicle you drive, your driving experience and where you live, we will work out the cost of your first year’s insurance. Using the telematics data collected by your black box, we will then calculate a discount based upon your driving score so that after renewal, if you have been driving sensibly, your premiums are likely to decrease.
