Home Contents Calculator

We have created this simple Contents Calculator tool to help you get a better view of the value of those things that truly make your house a home. Simply add all the rooms or areas in your home below, and select ‘Next’ to add your possessions. You’ll then be given an overall summary of the contents of your home. If you have any questions about home insurance you can find out more here.

Swinton knows how much there is to think about when it comes to insuring all of your home’s contents

You need to ensure that you’ve thought about every single part of your home, including those easily forgotten places such as landings and outbuildings, to ensure your insurance sufficiently covers you.

Then you have to consider all of your possessions, from furniture to carpets, curtains to lighting… the list goes on! Plus, don’t forget technology and electrical appliances – usually these items are the highest-value possessions, so you’ll want to make sure they’re adequately covered.

Finally, there are all of your personal belongings, such as clothing, jewellery, and even toiletries and fragrances – you might be surprised at how quickly these items add up!

Remember, although it can be easy to underestimate the value of your home’s contents, research has shown that one in four UK households could be underinsured – it is also possible to over-insure, which is why it’s really important to know just how much your possessions are worth so you can obtain the most appropriate level of insurance cover.

With all of this in mind, we have created an easy-to-use contents insurance calculator tool, which should give you a clearer idea of the cover you require to protect all of your home’s contents.

To start, simply add all of the rooms in your home. You’ll then be presented with a list of the rooms you’ve entered into the tool, where you will now need to list the various items contained in each one, e.g. in Bedroom you’ll find Beds, Wardrobes etc. You can always add other possessions too, should you have anything different to the common items we’ve listed.

Then, enter the value in pounds for each of the items, and when you are happy, click ‘Next’ and you’ll be shown a total summary cost for your home’s contents.

You’re free to go back and make more changes, or, once you’ve completed the contents calculator, you can choose to get a contents insurance quote from us.
